2) Tavi Gevinson of Style Rookie
3 years ago, I read about Tavi Gevinson in Teen Vogue. She was 12 years old and wore multi-colored wigs and cat-eye glasses and, while I admired her energy and individuality, I wasn't interested enough to look up her blog, learn about her "Teenage Suicide-DON'T DO IT" T-shirt, or her obsessions with Tim Burton and Sofia Coppola movies that so closely mirrored my own. Three years later, and Tavi is my twin separated at birth. Only she has better luck in thrift stores than I do. I don't know what I would do without her weekly mood-boards, (often featuring stills from Twin Peaks, My So-Called Life and Meadham Kirchoff runway shots), or her affinity for third wave feminism and Bikini Kill, or her perfectly cluttered, cosy vintage outfits, her long black skirts dusting the tops of her Rachel Antonoff loafers...
3) Marlena of Self-Constructed-Freak
This girl unspeakably awesome. She is the inspiration for all the projects I will never accomplish... She makes lacy collars and sews them onto little girls' dresses. She makes skirts out of My Little Pony pillowcases and wears taxi-cab yellow lipstick and shaved her head and still looks adorable and feminine...
